How do I unlock a HTC desire (pass pattern incorrect multiple times)?

So whilst in my pocket, my stupid phone has hit the side of my shorts somehow and has locked itself. It says it needs my google username and password but I can't remember it. I have tried resetting it, pulling out the battery. What to do?
