Do I need to pay internet for my cell phone if I am able to get wifi through my optimum online?

I am currently paying for internet cell phone plan, but I just signed up for optimum triple pay and i am able to receive wifi. Do I still need to pay my cell-phone company or can I cancel my internet subscription and stick with wifi? How does this work? I'm not a computer/cell phone geek lol.... help please!!!
